Porto Cervo - Federagenti, the Federation of Maritime Agents, has launched a truly multifaceted alliance to prevent and combat the emergency. From the federation’s assembly at Porto Cervo, for the 4th edition of the Forum Del Lusso Possibile (Possible Luxury Forum), Federagenti, through its Yacht Section, led by Giovanni Gasparini, has presented to the main players across Mediterranean routes a proposal for a seafarers’ pact.
Crews and officers on ship duty will participate in real time monitoring and reporting of concentrations of plastic waste; in parallel, cruise companies, shipping companies that provide ferry connection services to the islands, and leasing and yacht fleet management companies will conduct awareness campaigns targeting their passengers on the plastic waste issue, which increasingly risks becoming an emergency across the Mediterranean.
Many players quickly embraced the project, from Grandi Navi Veloci and the Silversea cruise group, and Italian Nautica, whose president Lamberto Tacoli scheduled a call to Porto Cervo from the Versilia Yachting Rendez vous, together with the vice president of Altagamma, Armando Branchini; from Moby-Tirrenia and from Grandi Navi Veloci and from the Presidency of the Association of cruise ship ports, Medcruise.
This impressive consensus stands as proof of a new kind of awareness, that transcends all divisions and conflicts, about the need for concrete actions to protect and defend a common good: the sea.
