Civitavecchia (Rome) - The port of Civitavecchia could be impacted by a strike of dock workers from Lazio. The workers are against a proposed change in the operator handling services for some 4.5 million tons of coal that are annually unloaded from sixty cargo ships, to supply the Enel power plant in Torrevaldaliga North.

The news was reported by Italy’s union of cooperatives, UeCOOP, that pointed out that some 150 workers could be involved, from the firm Minosse Spa, in charge of unloading the coal, plus some longshoremen from the Compagnia Portuale, one of the oldest sector cooperatives in Italy, with 400 members .
