”I wanted to take stock of the situation and provide an update,” explained president Francesco Maria Di Majo, “on the completion of the work to remove the reservoir and the redevelopment of the entire former state railway site. The company commissioned by RFI has done an excellent job and returned a clean and tidy site to the Port System Authority of the North Central Tyrrhenian Sea, and not least, on schedule.
The area in question has been deep cleaned, which led to the clean-up of the underground tanks that were directly connected with the former coastal deposit in the “Largo della Pace” area.
This intervention is one of those operations that was planned by the AdSP to make the area of the historic port and the “Varco Vespucci” entry, which are increasingly oriented to accommodate activities associated with yachting and related services, with the elimination of those facilities that were negatively impacting the environment because of their proximity to the city centre.
