Paris - ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, a German provider of naval vessels, surface ships and submarines, has presented at the Euronaval exhibition in Paris its new type of battery for submarines.

Developed with Saft, a manufacturer of advanced battery systems for industry, it is a lithium-ion battery that, say its manufacturers, could also be used “for other maritime applications in the future.”

“The tests have been extremely successful so far. In the coming year, we want to have completed the sample inspections required for the approval,” declares Rolf Wirtz, CEO of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.
