Valencia - Shipping company Höegh Autoliners opened a new service between Mediterranean Sea and United States. New route is called MDUs and came into operation from January 1, with Valencia as the only call in the Mediterranean area.
With this new service, the Spanish port is connected with Baltimore, Jacksonville, New York and Galvestone. It’s dedicated to the transport of new vehicles, ro-ro and project cargo.
Previously, the service touched the port of Sagunto, but the decision by Ford to produce the Ford Transit Connect van at the Almussafes plant, the call was moved to Valencia. Previously, the Connect was produced in Turkey.
The first MDUs service ship that arrived at Muelle de Costa in Valencia was the “Höegh Masan” with 2,400 vehicles. The unit is 179 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 44,000 tons.
