THE analysis - which takes the 10 leading types of goods that are subject to counterfeiting, covering 63% of counterfeit goods at the global level - shows that in these 10 categories, China is the largest producer of fake goods.

AT THE GLOBAL level, the commerce in counterfeit products is worth $461 billion, about 2.5% of the total value of goods traded every year around the globe.
The estimate is the result of research by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
The most developed economies are the most desirable targets, to the point that over 5% of E.U. imports consist of products of questionable provenance. The analysis - which takes the 10 leading types of goods that are subject to counterfeiting, covering 63% of counterfeit goods at the global level - shows that in these 10 categories, China is the largest producer of fake goods, while Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates are the most important points of distribution for counterfeit goods at the global level.
