Genova - Some violations of the rules on the safety of navigation and danger to the marine environment. This is what emerged from the inspections that the military of the Port Authority of Genoa carried out yesterday aboard a ship carrying a Chinese flag. For these reasons, the unit has been subjected to a “detention” measure that requires the complete correction of the deficiencies before being able to resume navigation to the next stop.
The ship, coming from the port of Benghazi, has reached the mooring at the Canepa quay in Genoa on 6 February and was subjected to inspection by the core Port State Control of the Port Authority of Genoa, in application of the international agreement on controls for navigation safety, known as the Paris Memorandum of Understanding of 1988. During the inspection, some violations of the rules on the safety of navigation and the lack of functioning of mandatory equipment for the protection of the marine environment, such as the important bilge water separation system, emerged.
The China Shipping Society naval register technicians are already working to restore the deficiencies and allow new verifications by the Italian maritime authority to allow the departure.
