Seoul - Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, one of South Korea’s three top shipbuilders, has clinched a new deal to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage and regasification unit for Maran Gas Maritime (MGM), a Greek shipping company.

The shipbuilder said Wednesday that the floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), a special type of ship used for LNG transfer, would be delivered to MGM, the gas shipping unit of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group, by the first half of 2021. The price was not disclosed. Angelicoussis is Daewoo’s biggest customer and 18 ships are under construction for the Greek group at the Daewoo shipyard in Okpo. So far this year, Daewoo Shipbuilding has received orders worth $3.4 billion for 27 ships, including 11 LNG carriers, 15 very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and one special ship.
