Genoa - Danish group DFDS has begun restructuring its Italian logistics division. The division’s results have been “insufficient” according to the group. Its main operations focus on rail transport between Italy, Sweden, Denmark and the United Kingdom. “All services will cease from April 1st, and will be offered by other operators,” DFDS announced.
Its warehouse in Fagnano, north of Milan, will also shut down. Rail transport services linking Italy to Benelux countries, and links to Ireland and Norway will continue, but will be operated by the company’s Oslo and Rotterdam offices. Former firm Italcargo (which later became DFDS Lilla Edet) will continue to operate road haulage services between Italy and Sweden. The package of cost-cutting measures envisaged will result in redundancies for 34 workers currently operating in Italy, Sweden, UK and Denmark.
