Air freight volume and rate growth slows

Rotterdam - Average worldwide air cargo yields dropped to US$1.8 in May, 3% below their level in April 2018, but still 14% higher than in May 2017, new figures from WorldACD reveal. But the changes are partly down to currency fluctuations

Rotterdam - Average worldwide air cargo yields dropped to US$1.8 in May, 3% below their level in April 2018, but still 14% higher than in May 2017, new figures from WorldACD reveal.

But the changes are partly down to currency fluctuations: measured in Euros, the yield increased by 1%, month over month (MoM), while the year-over-year (YoY) increase was 7%. The Amsterdam-based analyst questioned whether May’s figures represent “just a small dip in growth, or do we witness an ‘inevitable’ slide into a more modest performance of a world economy which looked so robust only a few months ago?”
