Piombino - Jindal drags its feet, and the sale of Algerian owned Inferpi steel, based in Piombino, remains on hold. Following the announcement of what seemed like a done deal for the sale of the steel mill on part of Algeria-based Cevital to India’s Jindal, and having gotten as far as scheduling the official signing for yesterday at the Mise Ministry, the Indian group - as Italy’s Minister of Economic Development Carlo Calenda explained - has now requested a few extra days for deliberation by its board of directors. Negotiations to restore credibility to the company, following the Algerian group’s default, had lasted months and seemed to have ended.
