Rome - With the Senate’s vote yesterday (168 in favour, 102 against and 2 abstentions), the tenth ILVA decree became Law. It had been passed by the Chamber of Deputies on 13 July.

The most important elements of the new law are: the postponement of the deadline for the sale of ILVA, which was previously 30 June; the possibility of Arpa Puglia hiring personnel as an exception to the limits of the public administration; the postponement until 2018 of the repayment of the €400 million granted to the special administration by the Italian State; immunity from prosecution (limited in time, until December 2018) which would also apply to the purchasers/renters of the facilities at Taranto, Genoa and Novi Ligure, who will be chosen at the end of the procedure that is currently in progress.
