MSC Grandiosa, the first cruise in the Mediterranean has ended / INTERVIEW
“For the port of Genoa it was a great satisfaction to host this cruise”, said in this interview the president of the port, Paolo Signorini

Genoa - The cruise ship MSC Grandiosa, the first large ship to resume operations after the worldwide suspension of cruises, returned today to the port of Genoa, from which it left seven days ago. MSC Grandiosa made stopovers in the ports of Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples, Palermo and Valletta (Malta) before returning to Genoa, with 3.000 passengers and workers on board. The cruise passengers, before being allowed on board, were subjected to two swabs to check for coronavirus infections. The ship will depart this evening for Civitavecchia.
“For the port of Genoa it was a great satisfaction to host this cruise”, said in this interview the president of the port, Paolo Signorini. “In 2019, before the pandemic, we had exceeded for the first time the threshold of two million cruise passengers, consolidating in the first two months of 2020 the position among the leading ports in the Mediterranean with a record of 150,000 passengers (+ 32% compared to 2019), demonstrating the considerable potential for development of the ports of the Ligurian Sea Western.”
