Taranto - Global Ports Holding, the largest independent terminal operator cruises globally, is now the new concessionaire for traffic support and support services port cruises of Taranto. The international holding will act through the subsidiaries Port Operation Holding and Global Ports Melita. Taranto Cruise Port will have in concession, for the next 20 years, a part of the maritime state-owned areas and assets located on the San Cataldo pier. This, it explained, "for the exercise of the support service for cruise passengers in the port of Taranto as well as any other activity regulated in the deed of concession." In particular, it was announced, the Taranto Cruise Port will use, on a transitional basis, a prefabricated structure dedicated to the support service for cruise passengers in transit in the port of Taranto as well as of all those who decide to choose the Apulian port as a place of embarkation and disembarkation.
This is waiting for the eastern quay of the San Cataldo pier and the multifunctional building called Falanto - currently under construction and nearing completion - to be completed and made usable as a preferential berth for cruise ships and seat of the related port terminal of Taranto.
