Polish yacht was in danger of sinking off Gotland

Visby - The Lifeguard 006 was on site at 5.09 p.m. and hoisted the pumps and crew members on board the sailing ship.

Visby - On June 1, 2015, around 4 p.m. the “Zjawa IV” suffered water ingress 75 miles SSE of Gotland. The Mayday call was relayed to the Swedish Coastguard, which dispatched the helicopter Lifeguard 006 with additional dewaterung pumps from Visby as well as the ssurveillance aircraft KBV 50. Also a Polish helicpoter took off. The Lifeguard 006 was on site at 5.09 p.m. and hoisted the pumps and crew members on board the sailing ship. 12 of the crew of 15 were meanwhile taken off by the rescue ship “Lotos” and taken to Władysławowo. Also the good Samaritans “Afrodyta” of Petrobaltico and the “Santa Barbara” went on standby. Three crew members remained aboard the sailing ship in order to keep it afloat. On June 2 at 5.40 a.m. the ship safely berthed in Władysławowo. The “Zjawa IV” had left Gdynia on May 31 bound for Sweden.
