Rome - “SNCF Voyages Italia must not evade its responsibility for the non-application of the national collective agreement for mobility, railway activities area.” FILT-CGIL, FIT-CISL and FAST-CONFSAL are demanding it.
“For a long time now,” the three unions pointed out, “we have been asking for a meeting to address the problem and SVI has always ignored us. Now that we have called a strike for 5 October, in accordance with Italian law, the company has decided to meet with us on 22 August but is accusing us of having used the strike to pressure them, in violation, they say, of Italian law, and to have damaged its image. The company says it is considering subsequent legal action. For us, these accusations are not only unacceptable veiled threats, but are clearly aimed at creating a diversion to conceal their breach of contract.”
“All this has happened and the competent institutions and authorities have remained silent,” they concluded. “The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport can intervene, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding of 13 April 2018, on the Guidelines for the quality of work in the construction, logistics and transport sectors to remind SVI to apply the sector contract. In the meantime, the Guarantee Committee on strikes and the Transport Regulatory Authority, which are always ready to remind the unions of their responsibilities, sometimes inappropriately, have so far not been prompt to address the companies when they do not comply with the common rules of the sector, such as contractual rules.”
