Ningbo - The port of Ningbo Zhoushan, China's busiest, recorded a 22.9% year-on-year increase in rail and sea freight cargo volume in the first 10 months of the year, announced by China Railway Shanghai Group Co. Ltd.

Between January and October, the handling of containers in the port of the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang exceeded 812,000 TEU, exceeding last year's total, a figure that should this year exceed 1 million TEU. The sea-rail transport service connects the Chinese port by rail with various parts of China and other countries.

The airport currently hosts 17 railway routes connecting several cities in 15 provincial-level regions across China. Several new routes have been opened this year. Spare parts for cars, photovoltaic products, outdoor furniture, household appliances and electronic products are the main categories of goods to make use of the sea-rail transport service in the port.

In the first 10 months of the year, a total of 700 convoys in service on the maritime-rail transport routes traveled between the Chinese port and Yiwu, the main world market for small products.
