Bari - The Puglia Region has allocated €48 million for the dredging of ports that are not under the management of port authorities. “For decades, dredging operations have not been performed in Apulian ports of regional scale. “We’ve decided to step in,” said Mr. Giannini, Regional Councilor for Infrastructure, “in ports which are not home to port authorities, thus excluding Bari, Brindisi, Taranto and Manfredonia industrial port, for which other types of financing are available. The port-dredging works programme,” he added, “is inviting applications from municipalities, they have until 30 April to prepare the technical report and preliminary cost analysis.” A public notice will be announced by 30 May, and an evaluation process for each project will follow.
