La Spezia - Clarifications and fast-track actions that, in full respect of the judicial investigation under way and thus the identification of any liability, would immediately avert even the slightest risk of adversely affecting the current and future operation of the port of La Spezia.
La Spezia Port Service, the unified voice of the community of La Spezia port operators, is looking directly at the dredging issue, and triggering the alarm. “If any mistakes, abuses or law violations were made in clearly defined important areas,” Andrea Fontana, president of the shipping agents, claims on behalf of La Spezia Port Service, “it is fair that they are highlighted and sanctioned. But La Spezia, which has managed to keep the harbour alive after nearly a decade of inconsistent decisions and choices on the dredging issue, has been forced to postpone important development decisions. Now, the Authority is ready to line up a tight defence on commercial and maritime activities that make this port an example of efficiency at the international level and a vital component of the national and European logistics systems.”
