Athens - Video has emerged of crewmen being airlifted to safety from a cargo vessel which ran aground near an Aegean Sea island in Greece. According to Greek authorities, rescuers have been able to reach the 22 crewmen stranded on the vessel, which has been taking in water. Coastguard vessels headed to the northern coast of Andros where the cargo ship, named Good Faith struck rocks early Wednesday morning. The vessel was empty of cargo and apparently headed from the Greek port of Eleusis to Odessa in the Black Sea.
Reports suggest that the crew consisted of one Romanian and 21 Filipinos. Rescue efforts were stalled earlier due to bad weather conditions. Latest reports suggest 18 crew members have been airlifted to safety by a Super Puma helicopter.
