Genova - In order to raise awareness for coastal habitat protection among the young, Italy has launched a grass roots research project sponsored by the Costa Crociere Foundation; called “Guardians of the Shoreline”. 225 Italian high schools have already joined the free-to-join project. The project involves the collaboration of the Ministry of Education and the Association of Robotics School in Genoa.

Throughout the school year just begun, the institutions that join, voluntarily and free-of-charge, will adopt a stretch of coastline in which to carry out scientific observations and surveys. The project is aimed at students and teachers of the final three years of Italian secondary/high schools. Teachers and students will have access to a dedicated online platform.
