Milan - Intesa Sanpaolo has concluded two loans for a total amount of 70 million euros in favor of Grimaldi Euromed, a company of the Grimaldi group specialized in rolling freight in Europe and in the motorways of the sea and in passenger transport in the Mediterranean with the Grimaldi Lines brand.

The transaction, structured by the Imi Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo led by Mauro Micillo, consists of two loans for the purchase of the new ships "Eco Mediterranea" and "Eco Adriatica", respectively the 10th and 11th of the class Grimaldi Green 5th Generation (Gg5g). The operation confirms Intesa Sanpaolo's support in favor of the energy transition and in support of investments related to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Both credit lines are characterized by a price mechanism linked to the achievement of specific ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) objectives. The sustainability objectives linked to the operation envisage, on the one hand, a significant reduction in polluting emissions, and on the other, the expansion of the use and installation of photovoltaic systems on individual ships.

The latest generation engines of the "Eco Mediterranea" and "Eco Adriatica" allow, in fact, to halve carbon dioxide emissions and reduce sulfur and particulate emissions, while the lithium batteries on board, thanks to their ability to recharging during navigation, will ensure the achievement of the zero emissions target in port.
