Naples - Seventeen companies have indicated that they are interested in the construction of an LNG storage facility in the port of Naples, one of the eight national ports in which an LNG storage facility is to be built, as per Italy’s national energy plan.

The Port System Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea received these seventeen applications by the deadline, which was yesterday at midnight. The port authority announced that applications were submitted by ButanGas, Confapi Napoli, De Biase, Edison, Energas, Engie, Galdieri, Italcost, Higas, Kuwait Petroleum, Liquigas, Marine Service, Maxcom Bunker, SNAM, So.De.Co., Sofregaz and Wartsila Italia.

The President of the AdSP, Pietro Spirito, said that he was “very pleased that the market is paying so much attention. We will evaluate the applications in the coming days,” Spirito explained.” By mid-March, we will have determined what the process is to be and will communicate the next steps to the participating companies.”
