Naples - Since January 1st 2014, Laziomar, former offshoot of the Tirrenia Group, has become a private entity and it speaks Neapolitan. After the Lazio Regional Council signed the contracts on December 30th, 100% of Laziomar stock was acquired by the Compagnia Laziale di Navigazione, a consortium of three shipping groups operating in the Gulf of Naples. The shares of the new Compagnia Laziale di Navigazione (CLN) are divided as follows: 33% owned by Medmar of the D’Abundo family, 33% owned by the Gruppo Lauro (which includes Alilauro, Alilauro Gruson and Alicost as well as other companies linked to Salvatore Lauro) and 34% owned by SNAV (a company owned by Gianluigi Aponte) led by Commander Raffaele Aiello.

The three Neapolitan companies paid 2.2 million Euros and the Lazio Regional Council has committed to a disbursement of approximately 12 million Euros in the next 10 years for the establishment of services (seven routes to the Pontine archipelago covered by 4 ferries and 3 hydrofoils). Commander Raffaele Aiello, from SNAV, is the President of CLN, the company in charge of managing the routes between the Lazio ports and the Pontine islands. Some of his goals as leader of the group are: improvement of services by adding two high speed crafts, cost reductions, the gradual renewal of the fleet, and the addition of a new ferry route between Terracina and Ponza. Current levels of employment are to remain unchanged.
