Rome - A handout photo (above) supplied by the Kaohsiung City Government shows Star Cruises’ cruise ship Superstar Virgo sail into the Kaohsiung Harbour in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, on its maiden Hong Kong-Kaohsiung voyage on 08 April 2014.

Star Cruises is the first foreign cruise company to launch regular service to Taiwan - as a total of 29 Hong Kong-Kaohsiung voyages are planned for 2014. Taiwan, a late starter in cruise industry, received only 98 cruise ships - totalling 140,000 passengers - in 2013. The island hopes to lure more cruise passengers, but has to tackle many problems, especially poor port facilities
