Rome - Passengers aboard the Costa Serena had their early morning hour sleep suddenly shaken by a loud noise. At around 8:30am, while the cruise ship was preparing to moor at the port of Civitavecchia, it hit the pier: a big scare but, luckily, no harm to any passenger… besides the inconvenience of a sudden halt to their holiday.

The ship, that had left Savona last night, arrived in Civitavecchia and was scheduled to depart again for Naples and then call at Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Marseille, before returning to Savona on September 7. Instead, an unscheduled longer stop is now required in Civitavecchia, where repairs are being performed.
