Costa Luminosa hosted officers from ILO
Genova - The visit onboard the ship as part of ILO’s “Train the Trainers” program.
Genoa - On Sunday, September 28, representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) together with 30 delegates of foreign countries visited Costa Luminosa, docked at Savona port. The tour was organized in cooperation with the Italian Coast Guard in the framework of Costa Luminosa’s award “Declaration of Excellence as the best Italian cruise ship for implementation of 2006 Maritime Labour Convention”, setting out international regulations to provide seafarers with fair, safe and good working and living conditions.
The visit was held as part of ILO’s “Train the Trainers” program, a learning methodology dealing with a comprehensive set of practices, tools and learning modules related to the education of managers, learning facilitators and other professionals who provide trainings. The group of international representatives, included 8 officers of China Maritime Safety Administration, was greeted by Giuseppe Russo, Captain of Costa Luminosa and Maurizio Campagnoli, Costa’s Institutional & Industrial Relations Director.
The first part of the visit consisted of a Simulation of Flag State and PSC (Port State Control) inspection and in the second part Captain Luigi Giardino, Chief of Italian Flag State Branch and Captain Paolo Meneghetti, head of training center of Italian Coast Guard gave a presentation consisting of a description of details on Italian Flag implementation of 2006 Maritime Labour Convention and on MLC,2006 training for Italian inspectors.
