Venice – Today Costa Diadema, the new flagship of Costa Cruises, left Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard (Venice), where she was built, to reach Trieste.
Venice – Today Costa Diadema, the new flagship of Costa Cruises, left Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard (Venice), where she was built, to reach Trieste. At 132,500 gross tons, more than 300 meters long, 37 meters wide and 1,862 guest cabins, Costa Diadema entailed a total investment of 550 million euro. The project involved approximately 1,000 shipyard workers plus another 2,500 subcontractors and about 400 contracted suppliers, most of which are Italian firms, engaged for the fitting-out of the interiors of the cruise ship. The new flagship will be an Ambassador of Italy’s finest, offering the best of Italian lifestyle, entertainment, gastronomy and hospitality.
Costa Diadema left Marghera shipyard to reach Trieste, which will be the first port to welcome Costa Diadema on October 31. It will be an occasion of celebration for the whole city, with the party organized on the ship and the fireworks that will shine above the beautiful setting of Trieste in the night. Trieste will be also the departure port of the first cruise of Costa Diadema, the “Vernissage cruise”, starting on November 1, with calls at Dubrovnik, Corfù, Malta, Naples, to end on November 7 in Genoa, where the Christening event will take place. As “Regina del Mediterraneo” (Queen of the Mediterranean Sea), Costa Diadema will be deployed in the Mediterranean Sea. From November 8 until the end of 2015 Summer season, the new flagship will leave from Savona on 7-day cruises in the western Mediterranean Sea, calling every week at Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Naples and La Spezia. They will offer the chance to visit during a single cruise Florence and Naples, two of the most popular Italian cities, and beautiful Mediterranean cities like Barcelona and Marseille.
