Venice - Being the most important European maritime terminal that connects Asia to Europe along the Silk Road, the port of Venice was invited to participate in the Belt&Road Forum International Summit today and yesterday in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The event was promoted by the Prime Minister of Georgia and organized by the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Affairs, with the participation of more than 15 ministers and representatives of the institutions of 34 countries and companies from 50 nations, with a total of more than a thousand delegates. During the trip, which was led by Pino Musolino, the president of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea, hoping to encourage the development of economic and commercial relations not only for the benefit of the port of Venice but also for North-Eastern Italian companies, Musolino, supported by the Italian Embassy, met high-level figures such as the Deputy Prime Minister and Georgia’s Economy Minister, Dimitry Kumsishvili, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, who was previously Energy and Natural Resources Minister and Second Deputy Prime Minister of the government, and the Director-General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, Henrik Hololei. From the commercial point of view, a series of B2B meetings were organised with Georgian companies and operators, including the CEO of the port of Anaklia, Levan Akhvlediani, and the general manager of APM Terminals Poti, Klaus Holm Laursen, who will welcome the Venetian delegation to the port of Poti tomorrow for a tour of its port infrastructure.
