Rome - Grimaldi Group and Arcese have agreed on a logistics partnership. “For several years we’ve been committed to developing multimodal transport as a solution that integrates road, rail and sea transport, with the strategic objective of making our offer of transport services more robust, flexible, powerful and competitive,” explains Arcese in a statement, explaining the significance of the new agreement. The recent agreements signed with the Grimaldi Group have the aim of connecting the existing road and combined Arcese train network, with Grimaldi’s short sea shipping network; this would result in connecting with multimodal solutions the markets of Italy, Spain and Greece, not just with each other but also with Central and Northern Europe. “The recent acquisition by the Arcese Group of Sarlog, a company specializing in intermodal traffic between Italy and Spain can be seen in the context of the agreement.” “Our goal is to create an integrated sea-rail-road network connecting the main European ports and inland ports, along the lines of what is already happening in the North Sea. To that end, the cooperation between Arcese and Grimaldi is highly strategic. Arcese, in fact, can boast an extensive and highly integrated intermodal network in Europe, while Grimaldi is one of the main RO-RO operators internationally. The common goal is to connect these two networks and then develop them in a synergistic way,” explains Marco Manfredini, Director of Arcese’s FTL division.
