Rome - DHL Supply Chain Italy, the Deutsche Post DHL group company which specialises in managing integrated logistical services for companies, acquired 100% of MIT, a leading Italian company in high-tech advanced logistical services. The operation has created the largest player in the technology, hi-tech and medical scene in Italy, confirming the role of DHL Supply Chain as a leader in logistics for companies. DHL Supply Chain Italy can boast, among its clients, of major Italian and international players, and has about 800 employees, and 39 campuses and operational sites. In the last five years it recorded revenue growth of 42%, and expects to grow 10% in 2016 compared to 2015. MIT is its second acquisition in Italy after the purchase of Eurodifarm in 2011. MIT, founded in 1983, operates in all sectors that involve high technology, including: hi-tech, medical, banking and vending.
The capillary distribution network consists of about 20 logistical centres through which MIT provides highly specialised pre- and post-delivery services for hi-tech equipment, which range from implementation of magnetic resonance scanners to the installation of cash machines, to biolab sanitation services for medical products. MIT is also a leader in the highly specialised market for the distribution of life-saving products like radiopharmaceuticals. In 2015, it achieved €48 million in revenue and 6 million in EBITDA, confirming a constant revenue and profit growth trend in recent years. So for both actors, the acquisition is an opportunity to grow in a major market like logistics and supply chain services. This operation will allow DHL Supply Chain Italy to develop new skills and broaden its portfolio of high-value-added services with a “Customer Centric” vision.
Thanks to specialised know how and a slim and flexible structure, MIT can manage the design and execution of extremely delicate services and activities such as the assembly, installation and configuration of many kinds of hi-tech equipment, allowing its clients to entrust these technical services to a single specialised operator through outsourcing. Its entrepreneurial DNA has allowed it to carve out a niche as a market leader thanks to its high levels of specialisation, innovation, and a culture of listening to the client. With the acquisition agreement, MIT will maintain its managerial autonomy and its Italian distribution structure will remain unaltered, for example its participation in TENESO High-Tech Transportation & Logistics Europe, in which it is a founding partner. In order to give continuity to the company’s recognised capabilities and skills, DHL Supply Chain fully confirmed its confidence in the current management. The company has been led for over ten years by C.E.O. Marco Crenna.
