Savona-Torino, understanding on logistics

Savona - Memorandum of Understanding between the Port Authority of Savona and S.I.To, the transportation and logistics company that manages the platform in Turin. The document was signed by the President of the Piedmont Region, Sergio Chiamparino, accompanied by the Regional Councillor for Transport Francesco Balocco, and the President of the Port Authority Gian Luigi Miazza. This initiative aims to enhance synergies and develop intermodal transport between the two entities.

“We think the North West as a whole is a logistics platform with great competitive potential in relation to those Northern European ports such as Rotterdam and Antwerp,” stated Chiamparino. “This platform includes long-term works, like the Third Tunnel, the Frejus, the East-West high-speed corridor and the connection with Switzerland. We are therefore talking about a grand design, but we have to speed up because if we do not start now to operate what is already there, or what is to be realized, we risk losing valuable routes.”
